My Gardens

Here are some of the gardens I have designed, created, influenced or maintained in the City of Seattle.

Ell Alley Garden:  I moved to Ell Alley, a small townhouse in the Rainier Vista development in November 2013.  I started work on the small garden there almost immediately.  Rainier Vista is controlled by the Seattle Housing Authority, which developed the area, controls community standards & maintains low-income rental housing on part of the 65 acres of land.  My landscape plan was approved by the SHA in August 2013.  The garden contains 3 smaller gardens: the Pacific Northwest Native Garden, the Patio Garden & the Ash Tree Garden.

Cascadia Garden:  I have written extensively in this blog about this garden on Cascadia Avenue S, on Cascadia Ridge, in the Mt Baker neighborhood, with a view of Lake Washington & the Cascade Mountains.  I designed & maintained this garden, along with my father, for 21 years, from 1992 to 2013 when the property was sold.  My parents had bought the place in 1961.

Bradner Gardens Park & P-Patch:  I have a connection from childhood to this park & community garden.  It was the site of the John Muir Elementary School Annex, where I was in the 6th grade in 1971-72.  I became a member of the community garden (p-patch) in 2012 & was assigned plot B29B.  To complete my required volunteer hours at the p-patch, I began to work on plans to renovate the Ornamental Border at Bradner Gardens Park in 2012 & created a blog to document that process.
